Kyoto’s most beautiful season—the autumn foliage—is on its way. In this article, we introduce a model course for Kyoto sightseeing around the classic spots, plus a recommendation for Kobe beef to cap it all off.

Enjoying Kyoto in Autumn Foliage Season

From November into early December, Kyoto’s temples and shrines are wrapped in autumn color. Popular spots like Kiyomizu-dera, Tofuku-ji, and Arashiyama are best in the early morning. Since you’ll walk a lot, choosing an easy-access place for your final meal is the key to a comfortable day.

A Sample Model Course

In the morning, stroll the Higashiyama area (Kiyomizu-dera and Yasaka Shrine); grab bites at Nishiki Market for lunch. In the afternoon, head to the Togetsukyo Bridge and bamboo grove of Arashiyama. In the evening, take the Hankyu line back to Kawaramachi and go straight to a Kobe beef dinner—directly connected to the station.

Finish with Kobe Beef in Kawaramachi

KOBE BEEF FACTORY Kyoto Kawaramachi Garden is open all day from 11:00 to 22:00. Whether your sightseeing runs late or you prefer a slightly early dinner, we can accommodate—choose yakiniku, steak, or sukiyaki by your mood. For choosing by budget and occasion, see our column Where to Eat Kobe Beef in Kyoto Kawaramachi. The menu is on the Food Menu.
